About the Artist

Beat the Colorful Metaphorical Drum

Harmonious Art for Sacred Spaces

Holli May Thomas - Biography

My gaze has always been up looking at hopeful skies. The universe and stars have always held magic, and it was not just waiting for me. It was here and now. What you perceive, you believe.

I have a varied work background that includes working in a fabric store, a bookstore, teaching high school English to underprivileged kids for thirty years, selling beer and sausage on a stick to cowboys and bikers, working at boat shows, selling jewelry, and climbing water towers to collect water samples. I have heard all the stories and listened to fears from a huge swath of humanity, yet the bigger questions were always the same - what is my destiny, why am I here, and why is there so much suffering? I found the answers to those questions at a young age through the lines in my writing journal and the creation process.

I have followed the same system for decades - I write every single morning, meditate, then move five feet over to my worktables where I begin to create. I love to paint, assemble, and create altars for personal and workspaces with themes of empowerment, finding your peace, and having a vision through color, a friendly word, and symbolism.

I am a member of the Houston Art Society and WiVLA (Women in the Visual and Literary Arts). I am also an administrator for an online art space on Facebook called Earth Guardians Art Gallery that parallels my environmental interests. My creations are held in public and private collections across the United States.

Any road will take you in the right direction if you place fear aside and wherever you place your faith to be your guide. There will always be negativity, haters, and nay sayers in our world, but I say be the wild poster child for positivity. Again – what you perceive, you believe. Buckle up and join me for the road trip of your life through visuals and a good word. I honor the light in your as you do in me. Namaste y’all!
